TOO MUCH OF A GOOD THING CAN BE TOXIC.
HAVE YOU BEEN EXPOSED TO HIGH LEVELS OF HEAVY METALS?
Find out with Cabot Lab
We are exposed to natural elements every day, including metals. Our bodies need a certain amount of these substances to survive and regulate bodily functions, including chromium, iron and zinc. However, too much of a good thing can lead to toxicity.
Heavy Metals Testing is an option at Cabot Lab Services if you are concerned with toxic exposure, or need to monitor your employees in line with OSHA regulations. The most common metals tested for include:
Heavy Metals Panel
Arsenic Exposure Test
Lead Exposure Test
Mercury Exposure Test
Cadmium Exposure Test
Chromium (Hexavalent Chromium, Chromium 6) Exposure Test
Copper Exposure Test
Zinc Exposure Test
Heavy metal toxicity can result in damage to the vital organs, neurological and muscular degeneration, cancer, allergies and even death. Toxicity occurs when the body cannot metabolize the amount of metal substances ingested or absorbed. The metals then accumulate in the soft tissues.
Occupational exposure is the most common way people are exposed to heavy metals, and employers take precautionary steps to test and monitor employees that may be exposed to protect their health and safety. There are a number of other ways people are exposed to heavy metals, including but not limited to:
Environmental releases in the air, water and soil
Living in or remodeling old homes
Taking metal-based supplements at unnecessary levels
